Installation Instructions

Open ground installation.

Step 1
Ground preparation

As a rule very little ground preparation is needed as this system will be secure in most ground
        types and surfaces.
However do not install SFTFSS on very loose soils, such as the top of newly placed windrows,
until they have been sufficiently compacted.

Step 2  Check for underground cables

Our screw posts are intentionally designed to only penetrate below ground 400 mm. This
places the bottom of the screw above any legally installed electrical cables which should be at
450mm from ground to top of cable. However we recommend using Ground Penetrating
Radar (or similar technology) if you are uncertain of the location of electrical cable
        installations.

Step 3  Lay out panels

Lay out the panels on the intended fence line with the bottom of the panels along the final
        location

Step 4  Install screw posts

Using a Stihl 130 Post Hole Digger and attachments supplied, (see figure 1) screw the posts
into the ground at the necessary locations. It is best practice to install 4 or 5 screw posts and
then install the panels to ensure the centres are correct.

Step 5 Install top plates

Place the correct top plate onto the screw so the screw penetrates through the top plate and
extends past the end of the 50nb pipe section about 10mm. Install the clevis pin into the screw
to stop the top plate lifting off the screw. See Figure 2

Step 6 Install panels

Swivel the top plate to the desired position and lift the panel onto the top plate and over the
       fixing pin. See Figure 3

Step 7  Install connector brackets

Install the connector brackets to the top of the panels and tighten. See figure 4

Step 8  Install bracing

Locate the bracing and install with connector brackets. See figure 5 Install the bracing screw as
per Step 4 Fit the bracing over the pin on bracing screw and fix with a clevis pin. See figure 6

Concrete curb of footpath installation

Step 1 Lay out panels

Lay out the panels on the intended fence line with the bottom of the panels along the final
        location

Step 2 Install top plates

Place the top plate in the required location and drill a 6mm hole into the concrete curb. Install a
6mm Thunderbolt through the top plate and into the concrete. See figure 7

Step 3 Install panels

Once the first top plate is installed fit the panel and fix the next top plate into the bottom of
the panel. Locate the top plate and panel in the correct location and then fix the top plate to
the curb as per Step 2

Step 4  Install connector brackets

Install the connector brackets to the top of the panels and tighten.

Step 5 Install bracing

Select the location of the bracing and install with connector brackets. Install the bracing screw
as per Step 4. Fit the bracing over the pin on the bracing screw and fix with a clevis pin.
Alternatively the brace can be secured to concrete or bitumen using a small top plate.

Bitumen driveway of road surface

Step 1 Lay out panels

Lay out the panels on the intended fence line with the bottom of the panels along the final
        location

Step 2 Install top plates

Place the top plate in the required location and drill a 8mm coach screw through the hole in the
        top plate

Step 3  Install panels

Once the first top plate is installed fit the panel and fix the next top plate into the bottom of
the panel. Locate the top plate and panel in the correct location and then fix the top plate to
the curb as per Step 2

Step 4  Install connector brackets

Install the connector brackets to the top of the panels and tighten.

Step 5 Install bracing

Select the location of the bracing and install with connector brackets. Install the bracing screw
as normal. Fit the bracing over the pin on the bracing screw and fix with a clevis pin.
Alternatively the brace can be secured to concrete or bitumen using a small top plate.

Limestone or hard ground installation

Step 1 Lay out panels

Lay out the panels on the intended fence line with the bottom of the panels along the final
       location

Step 2
Install screw posts

Using a Stihl 130 Post Hole Digger and the 40mm drill attachment supplied, drill a pilot hole at
each required location. Screw the posts into the pilot holes. It is best practice to install 4 or 5
screw posts and then install the panels to ensure the centres are correct.

Step 3  Install top plates

Place the correct top plate onto the screw so the screw penetrates through the top plate and
extends past the end of the 50nb pipe section about 10mm. Install the clevis pin into the screw
to stop the top plate lifting off the screw.

Step 4  Install panels
Swivel the top plate to the desired position and lift the panel onto the top plate and over the
        fixing pin.

Step 5
Install connector brackets

Install the connector brackets to the top of the panels and tighten.

Step 6
Install bracing

Select the location of the bracing and install with connector brackets. Install the bracing screw
as per Step 4. Fit the bracing over the pin on the bracing screw and fix with a clevis pin.
Alternatively the brace can be secured to concrete or bitumen using a small top plate.
